What Your Peru Dollars Have Done!

Every Wiraqocha Foundation Peru-goer over the past 12 years has given a $500 donation to make this clean water project possible. In addition, proceeds from Andean tradition workshops and product sales in many different countries are used to directly assist the Q'ero indians. Way to go!

In 1996, The Wiraqocha Foundation together with the Peruvian Institute for Andean Health sent in a team of doctors and nurses to assess the health needs in the Q'ero Nation. A deadly 60% infant mortality rate was discovered, due to bad water. Synchronistically, in the same month we received this Q'ero health analysis, Elizabeth met Donna Runnals of Living Bridges Foundation. Donna had already identified the same Q'ero health issues and had a team of engineers and workers ready to put a clean water system in Q'eros, she just needed the funds. Wiraqocha had the funds. It was a match made in heaven (see photos below!). After funding the second phase of the Living Bridges Potable Water Project, Wiraqocha funded the building of a school in Q'eros. Previously students had to walk three hours each way to attend classes. Now they have their own school right in their village.
